I remember it was the beginning of 90s decade when I saw an Audi for the first time in a motor magazine that my dad gifted me. It was an Audi 90 in red color that was reviewed in that magazine. I didn't know a lot about cars then but I had the passion and I loved that Audi 90; like lust at first sight (I believe it takes a lot more than first sight for love thus not love at first sight)
I got interested in Audi right then and the lust has turned into love over the years. Second time I came across an Audi was when A8 was launched in 1994, again it was through a magazine with launch of Audi A8 and they had reviewed the car and compared it to a BMW 7 Series E38. BMW used was in Maroon & Audi was Light Shade of Grey. Everyone thought 7 Series was better choice but I liked Audi A8 better.
Then the first time I saw an Audi in Pakistan was my 3rd big highlight. I was walking down on Shahrah-e-Faisal in late 90s when Nadeem Khan's Blue Audi A4 passed me. I still remember that day like the back of my hand, I saw my most fav car in real for the first time.
Few years back Audi officially came to Pakistan and what can I say; unlike others they aren't here to further exploit the volatile automobile industry of Pakistan. They aren't charging insanely high prices for their cars; they aren't selling crap at the price of Gold. Infact Audi is treating Pakistani market like any other market. Recently the following advertisement caught my eye.
"The 2015 Audi A4 S Line
Order a new 2015 Audi A4 today, and drive away with the S Line exterior package for free. Offer valid for a limited time only.
The following features are available in the S line exterior package for the Audi A4:
•Front and rear bumpers, side grilles and diffuser insert in a striking, sporty design
•Side sill strips, body-coloured
•Diffuser insert painted in platinum grey
•Radiator-grille in high-gloss black
•S line logos on the front wings and the door sill trims"
This all seemed too good to be true in Pakistan where we have to pay extra for an additional sticker as well. I went in depth to dig into as what the reason could be. Upon inquiry I found out that Audi A4's new generation is launching in August world over and this is a promotion Audi is giving everywhere to get rid of old stock. When you go to an Audi dealership in Pakistan and ask a sales rep he will also tell you the same clearly and won't try to con you into buying the car. This really impressed me.
They are offering a variety of range in Pakistan and they are following models with starting prices of:
Audi A3 Sedan - Rs.3,800,000/-*
Audi A4 Saloon - Rs.5,400,000/-* (at the moment Rs.5,000,000/- to clear stock)
Audi A5 Sportback - Rs.6,600,00/-*
Audi A6 Saloon - Rs.7,500,000/-*
Audi A7 Sportback - Rs.16,500,000/-*
Audi A8 Long Chassis - Rs.22,500,000/-*
Audi Q3 - Rs.6,500,000/-*
Audi Q5 - Rs.11,000,000/-*
Audi Q7 - Rs.15,000,000/-*
Audi is already perceived as a brand of luxury and in Pakistan if Toyota Indus can charge you Rs.4,500,000/- for a Prius then Audi can also easily would've over charged us for A3 Sedan but they kept it reasonable at the price of Rs.3,800,000/- Others should learn from Audi Pakistan
I finally see a light of hope in the name of Audi Pakistan. So I'd like to conclude by saying that Audi has established itself in Pakistan in the past decade and they are here to stay and they are breaking the norms of Pakistani market and they are doing it right just like in the following commercial.
