Nissan Figaro (Back to the future)

Nissan Figaro was introduced at the 1989 Tokyo Motor Show under the slogan "Back to the Future". The car was originally sold only in Japan during 1991 - 1992 however it became popular as second-hand Japanese import cars around the globe because of its very retro looks that make this car unique. Figaro was based on the K10 Nissan Micra aka March and was powered by a petrol Nissan 1000cc Turbo Engine. Only four colors were available each color symbolizing a season of the year

Topaz Mist – Summer

Emerald Green – Spring

Pale Aqua – Autumn

Lapis Grey – Winter

The Figaro was equipped with white leather interior, air conditioning, CD player were both concealed in the interior with chrome livers giving the car vintage look and feel. Figaro had an open roof which used to open and fall back from the center which made the car kind of convertible.

Only 8000 were originally made by a Nissan special projects group called Pike Factory, and they were sold exclusively at Japanese Nissan dealership network called Nissan Cherry Store. But the car received such an overwhelming response that an additional 12,000 were added to production to meet demand.  Limited edition cars came with passenger side baskets and cup holders.

Figaro became so popular in Eurpoe that there are specialist dealers in the UK who supply parts and servicing for this car.

A few of Nissan Figaros even managed to come to Pakistan in 2006 and I was lucky enough to have one of those for a brief time back in the day.
