Resale Matters the Most
When we buy a new car; we don't bother with value for money; we are not concerned whether in case of an accident our car will save us or not; nothing matters; the only thing that matters is when five years down the road we go to sell the car how quick will it sell? We don't know if we'll survive to see that resale value but we need to leave behind that good resale value. That is why we still happily buy 28 years old Mehran.
Car is an Investment
We don't understand the difference between an investment & an expense; as per my knowledge an investment is when you put in some money and expect some profit on it in future and expense is when you buy something to use. For us Pakistanis a car isn't an expense its an investment and much to everybody's amusement it actually happens that way when you buy a car with good resale value & few years down the road sell it at a price higher than what you bought it for.
Original is better than Restored
Another funny thing here; if you have an old car properly restored to its factory condition then there are chances of it having less value than another car of same make and year but with faded original paint. We believe a car loses its value if it is painted (not talking about major accidents here). I mean its common sense; when your tyres wear-out you get new tyres; when your engine needs overhauling you do that and its all good but when the paint loses its touch then either you compromise on its resale value (which is very important) by painting it or drive around in a ugly looking car with faded paint.
Luxury mean Sedan
In Pakistan a normal person dreams of driving a car which in most of the cases is a hatchback; people own one hatchback after the other in their entire life because their perception is that a sedan is a luxury car which is high to maintain.
Automatic Transmission is Flop
Believe it or not but the common perspective shared by millions till the date is that automatic transmission is a failure in our country and thus we should prefer stick shift aka manual transmission however this is a fast fading concept all thanks to the millions of automatic JDMs coming to Pakistan.
Suzuki Cultus is the First Step Towards Success
Suzuki made a car by the name of Cultus in late 80s and it kept around till mid 90s; we however in Pakistan are still very fortunate that we get that masterpiece of technology till date and the ladder to success before marriage is getting a completing MBA, Engineering or MBBS, get a job and buy a brand new Cultus; now mommy will proudly go look for a bride.
Toyota Corolla is a Status Symbol
Toyota Corolla is a common mans car worldwide however in Pakistan people consider Toyota Corolla as the status symbol; if you have achieved success then you must be driving a corolla. No questions asked.
Honda Makes Sports Cars in Pakistan
Honda assembles Honda City & Honda Civic in Pakistan (Both Sedan) and for us they are sports cars; why if you may ask? because in the first Movie of Fast & The Furious franchise they had Honda Civics. That is the only argument; why would a Hollywood movie use them if they aren't sports cars
We Love CNG
We will install CNG in any car we can get our hands on; its not because its green but because it'll be cheaper. Notice the photograph below; it shows a Toyota Prius CNG obviously converted by some genius who thought it'll be better on Hybrid.
Causes of a Serious Accident
If God forbid you meet a fatal accident then there can be only 2 causes of it; a - you were drunk or b - you were involved in an illegal street racing.
SUV Owners
If you own an SUV then you are either a Politician or a Gangster
High End Cars
If your car has Power Steering, Power Windows, SRS Airbags, ABS Brakes or any other thing remotely related to modern world normal cars then you drive a high end car and you're a showoff.
Bigger Car is at Fault
If you meet a small accident then whoever owns the bigger car is at fault; in case of Car / Bike accident the fault can never be on Bike owner.
Other use of Clutch
Clutch is also a foot rest and its there for your foot to rest.
Use of Horn
Horn is there so you can inform the world of your arrival or if you need to attract attention
Indicators
Indicators are only there for sissy boys; you'll loose your macho if you use Indicators
Traffic Rules
Just like indicators; following lanes; following traffic light etc aren't for you if you're a macho man of civilized world; traffic rules were made by idiots hoping you'll be fool enough to fall for their conspiracy of getting you late.
Old Technology is always Better than New
That's it... Newer cars are flop and older cars are better; this is one thumb rule.
