Honda City Evolved

City Evolved

Last week Atlas Honda launched the face-lift model of the new Honda City which they are calling Honda City Evolved. The current model which is the fifth generation of city was launched in 2009 and the same one was being offered till last week unlike in the previous generations when a face-life was done with the international market and model changes have also been done same way this time however Honda was two years late. I personally don't understand this move because they have offered this "Evolved" car when the rest of world is getting sixth generation of Honda City.

Right now is a time when eleventh generation of Toyota Corolla was launched a few months back and 1.3 liter variants of Corolla are considered a direct competitor of City so that is effecting the sales of Honda City and even then I don't understand why they are holding back on sixth generation of Honda City.

Honda City has been the best in its category for nearly two decades since its introduction in Pakistan in 1997. The current generation of City is third in Pakistan and this is a personal favorite. Like every change brings something good and something bad I like to consider the glass is half full so I would like to point out a few positives that I see in this change.

We live in a country where we have been getting same old Suzuki Mehran for last 25 years and the only thing that has changed in the car is lights and radiator grill every few years and whenever it has been changed that has been named as a totally new model and price increase. In a country like that for the first time Honda Atlas has brought the concept of "So much more for nothing more" All the changes in the car are being offered at the same old price tag. A new 1.3 liter variant of Honda City has also been introduced which was previously only available in 1.5 liter engine. Here are the changed things in new Honda City.

  • Key-less entry as a standard

  • Chromed front grill

  • Redesigned taillights

  • Door mirrors with Indicator as standard

  • Rear high-mount stop lamp

  • Redesigned rear bumper with reflectors

  • Rear armrest with cup holder

  • Blue instrument cluster panel

  • Front fog-lights (Aspire only)

  • Chrome ac control livers (Aspire only)

I personally like all the new stuff except for the chromed front grill & redesigned taillights which in personal opinion are a little Gaudy but other than that I love all the new things. Overall I still like Honda City
