Pakistan Assembled Civic (Part 1 – EG)

Honda has been assembling cars in Pakistan for twenty years now, so far they have rolled out 5 generations of civic in the last two decades, Details of when came when are as follows.

Fifth Generation EG (1994 – 2005 in Pakistan)

EL (1994 – 1995) – Initially when Honda started their assembly plant in Pakistan in 1994 they offered a basic version of Civic without ac or anything namely EL which was powered by a 1.5 liter carburetor engine, it was the base model, black bumpers, no side moldings etc. EL at that time was offered only in two colors i.e. white & tomato red.

SX (1994 – 1995) – SX was not the power packed version however it did offer air conditioner, power steering and metallic colors, SX also had matching bumpers along with full tyre wheel covers. SX was also powered by the same 1.5 liter carburetor engine that EL had.

EX (1994 – 1995) – EX was the power packed version available in Civic at that time, EX had all the goodies like power windows, power steering, full tyre wheel covers, side mouldings, powered mirrors etc. EX also had the same engine as the other two variants of Civic.

SE (1995) – SE was offered for a very limited time towards the end of 1995 probably to get rid of the already lying CKDs that Honda had before the launch of new model in 1996. SE was the first Pakistan assembled car which had factory fitted alloy rims; other than that SE had a factory fitted rear spoiler and golden emblems.

Colors

Honda offered a choice of various colors in their initial lineup; the colors offered were White; Tomato Red; Black; Silver; Bottle Green & Navy Blue.

Honda Civic EG series was the first Pakistan assembled Civic and despite its age the car is still popular and favorite among the youth all thanks to the Fast & Furious franchise which made the first and most affordable choice of a ricer to modify.
